The school environment provides opportunities for children to increase their knowledge and provides them with skills for them to use in the future, as well as creating a safe and comfortable environment where children can learn, free of fear and abuse (Mansouri & Jenkins, 2010). However, a recent study by Mansouri & Jenkins (2010) has documented that schools are the most common environment where children will experience racism and racial discrimination. Additionally, the Victorian organisation, The Localities Embracing and Accepting Diversity (LEAD), states that direct racism is experienced more by primary school students than students in secondary education.
