(1)Racism is the idea that everyone of a certain race has the same qualities as each other. This is often followed by the belief that those of said race are inferior in some way to another more dominant race. Prejudice is a pre judgment or opinion of the race of a person or group of people. Now stereotypes are a commonly believed, or known, oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of people. Stereotypes play a huge role in ethnicity, which is a combination of learned cultural behaviors associated with physical characteristics.1 Racism definitely still exists today, otherwise the conversation would be dying down, not getting louder. You can clearly see this if you look at the education system, Hollywood, or the prison system. All three of these are clear examples where whites will benefit more than minorities. I do not think we will ever fully overcome racism. We may get to a point where it is so miniscule it does not pose a major threat to anyone, but it will always be there. Even if we were all white, it would come down to what shade of white, what’s your hair and eye color, how are you built. Racism is not a crazy idea though, we are built to want to find a mate that is closest to us. We are animals, highly evolved and intelligent animals, but still animals that follow our animal instincts. The most fundamental is to find a mate, and we want someone who closest identifies with us.
