I agree with you about the Hispanic comments ans questions. That was a bit much. People are too consumed with race and labels now. However, I disagree with you on a few other points. If they were having a real conversation about race and racism then it would have made sense, but they were just labeling people and trying to pit them against each other. There is absolutely still a problem with racism- Carson, Cruz, and Rubio are subjected to it all the time. All three men have rose to prominent places in society in spite of it, but as long as people think it is okay to say ugly things about another person because of he or she is a different race, ethnicity, or religion or because he or she speaks a different language then we will always have …show more content…
Ben Carson is a true gentleman and quite possibly one of the nicest men who you will ever meet anywhere. Carson still makes deals on a handshake and he does not engage in incivility or showboating. I think he is a wonderful man who has the intellectual capacity to solve our problems. However, he is too nice for politics. Watching Carson in politics is like watching Mr. Smith (from the movie, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington) when he was in Congress. It is not going to end well because he is an absolute gentleman and everyone else is corrupt, mean spirited, morally bankrupt, intellectually inferior, some combination of the above, or all of the …show more content…
Rubio is often demonized by elitists, Hollywood fans, Castro fans, liberals, and people who hate children of immigrants. He is the youngest person in the Republican and Democrat primaries. He holds the most experience per age ratio of any candidate and the trajectory suggests that his judgment will only improve with age. He is the son of blue collar workers and unlike other candidates, he actually had to work his way through school instead of having everything handed to him on a silver platter. His life story represents what the American Dream is suppose to be- that you can rise out of poverty and the next generation can be better off than the previous generation. Rubio still runs his own law firm and uses some of the profits from that law firm to help (educate, feed, and house) the homeless in his local community. Name another politician who would do that. Trump sure as hell wouldn 't. I admire that about him. It is inspirational that someone can come from nothing to being a Presidential candidate, lawyer, and leader. It is hope that things could change for the better for all people. I have also met and talked to him several times. Like Carson, he is a gentleman and usually avoids incivility because he was raised to be respectful of others. I think he has had enough of people belittling him though because the politeness has

    Judge Sotomayor Analysis

While watching Senator Lindsey Graham question Judge Sotomayor, I felt as though even though he said that he liked her as a person some of the questions and statements he said to her was pretty harsh. The first thing that I thought he said that was inappropriate was when he asked her about the Constitution and the 1st trimester abortion, I thought that was out of line because everyone have their own opinion about abortion depending on what they believe in, and they shouldn’t be judge for that. The next thing that I thought was inappropriate was when he was talking to her about how more women and minorities were going to start getting more involved and change the laws. Just because more minorities and women are going to be involved don’t meant that they will change anything. The last thing that I thought was inappropriate was when he…

People may not want to vote for Ben Carson because he does not have political experience, yet other candidates lack political experience as well. While he may not have political experience, Ben Carson definitely has experience as a leader. According to the speech Carson gave when he announced his campaign for the presidency, he has been on several large company’s boards like Kellogg and Costco. Also, he and his wife run a successful national non-profit scholarship fund which thrives in all fifty states (“Dr. Ben Carson Presidential”). Next, many argue Ben Carson lacks knowledge about foreign policy definitely in terms of military management.…

A democracy is a government that is ruled by the people. This means that we as people choose our own presidents, mayors, senators, and other people of power. A democracy is different from other forms of government because it is actually “ran” by the people. Its main purpose is to not be a monarchy which is a government that is led by a monarch like a queen or king, where the power stays in the family. The Electoral College was founded in 1787 by our founding fathers, It was established to make sure that our government doesn't turn into a monarchy.…

    1. The message I take with me by listening to his speech is that if we want things to change if we don’t want to see more violence between races, if we don’t want to see more discrimination, if we don’t want to see more people struggling just to get something to eat everyday, then we need to open our eyes and see clearly that the problem is not with a specific race or the “special” treatment other race get, the problem is that people with a lot of power puts us on situations like this so that they can live out of our expenses . I think that it very important that people need to realize that the current system is only there to help a few lucky ones and the other struggle. 2. I noticed he used the problem and solution one, because the first part of his speech he presented us with the struggles that brown people go thru every day and how it is influenced by the society that we as citizens have built, he too explained to us the problem we have with understanding things that don’t relate to white culture.…

In two of the most recent opportunities the candidates had to showcase themselves, Rubio stumbled by shedding light on how little of the true person we get to see. On the two occasions Rubio was asked what should have been simple questions, and initially answered with solid responses. However, when continuing the conversation, Rubio ended up repeating the same exact lines over and over again. It soon became blatantly obvious just how scripted and coached his responses were. This is mainly due to the influence the republican party , or GOP, has over its candidates.…

How Fear Drives American Politics, a speech by David Rothkopf, is an enlightening viewpoint of the American government’s responses to terrorism in the 21st century. In his speech, Rothkopf conveys an observation that he has been aided in discovering by his unique vantage point of growing up a Jewish boy in New Jersey amid the fear of global thermo-nuclear war in the 1950‘s. His observation is this; Fear is one of the front-running catalysts for change in governmental, social, and societal changes in America. These changes in his opinion have come for the better, and worse in different situations throughout history. The Cold War gave birth to a heightened nuclear program, our space program, the interstate system, and the Internet.…
