Contrarily of what my female subject think, racism is present here in Saint Cloud; we just have to pay attention to it and we will see that it is here. People don’t generally pay enough attention to racist behaviors that’s why they cannot see it. But once we pay attention it appears clearly and when we can finally see it we have to challenge the behavior. I remember for example this day when I was with three other friends in front of Atwood discussing. We were two white and two black. Then a friend of one of the white guy came over great only the two white guys and avoiding us (the two black people) was leaving. In fact, racism bring division and hatred in the community that it affected by it. We had an example in St Cloud; after the event in the mall, Somalian people were automatically judged as bad people. Some white people begin to hate them and along with the hatred comes the division and the intolerance. Those Somalian people were not the ones stabbing people. The only crime they committed was to be from the same country as the one who did it. But yet they were clearly hated at the point that they could even feel it. Some of this hatred is gone thanks to all the authorities who gave speeches over speeches to explain what happened but also to ask people to stay calm and avoid judging, but some of it still remains and hatred is never good within a community. Racism within the community also affect the education. In the domain of education, racism is not really common nor obvious in SCSU, but it is still there. In education racism goes from favoritism and grade by interest, to the time spend explaining a specific issue to white American student versus the time spent at explaining the same thing to a black student. Racism in education can have dramatics effects; mass failure of the non-privileged students, the sentiment of being ignored or rejected by your own teacher, the low expectation of teacher regarding students from the dominated (subgroup).
