Racial Stereotypes: After Ellen And Angry Asian Man

A stereotype, as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is to believe unfairly that all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same. Racial stereotyping is something that has been occurring throughout history and has become a tremendous issue. With an increase in social media within the past decade, many new sources and blogs have created websites to discuss these problems. Two prominent websites that talk about social issues such as these are After Ellen and Angry Asian Man. After Ellen touches more on gays and lesbians, while Angry Asian Man talks more about Asians. The first article from After Ellen is about women who want to wear tuxedos to prom and was written by Genevieve D Berrick on April 17, 2015. The article is about a high school senior named Claudette Love who wanted to wear a tuxedo to her prom, but her principal told her to pick something more appropriate for her “gender presentation.” Once the story hit the news, the school had almost no choice but to rescind their previous decision, allowing Love to wear a …show more content…
Around 450 historical crafts and artifacts were given, not sold, to the original collector named Allen Eaton and now they are being sold by Rago Arts to the highest bidder. The author is more than likely Japanese due to the amount of outrage that’s displayed in this article. He believes that the artifacts shouldn’t be sold, and now that I’ve heard this article’s point of view I agree with him. I wouldn’t want my ancestors creations being sold to random people. This article made me realize that things such as this don’t tend to get as much attention in the media as they should. It also made me think about the Armenian Genocide, which is part of my family’s past, and the petition that we have in order to get Congress to recognize that the Armenian Genocide actually
