How To Minimize Stereotypes

Stereotypes has been in our world history ever since the dawn of times. The way that stereotypes work is that you often possess a knowledge or thinking of some sort of judgement based upon an individual. This could factor in by the person’s race, color, heritage, group, and even the type of people they sort themselves with. For an example, it could play a major roll on how you communicate with different types of people or affect your listening, perception, and thinking. I can filter out and minimize these stereotypes by three strategies: education, observe and relate to these situations, and view the situation through the eyes of another individual. To begin with, I have developed many different types of stereotypes and biases of many other people. Some was due to race, tragedies, loses, and other people of a certain group giving me a hard time. One, key situation that I recall that influenced a stereotype was that African American’s don’t work and just want to gangbang. For example, this stereotype was in my head because of the place I grew up in. I was raised and grew up in on an all African American neighborhood. Minimizing these stereotypes plays a good roll on how to have better communication with others. Without having a stereotype in mind I could finally see a person eye to eye without something interfering it such as a stereotype. They often would become a problem with my listening, perception, and thinking. It would impact them by changing those three functions in a negative way. Analyzing and developing these strategies made me a better person today and helped me overcome stereotypes from myself and others around
