Racial profiling the act of targeting a person of a certain race on the basis of observed behavior rather than individual suspicion. Although this act might not happen in our community for many minorities it is an everyday reality. Recently, many races accuse the majority race and police of racially profiling them in everyday scenarios. These scenarios involve a multitude of regular tasks in our everyday lives for example during shopping, driving, napping, and many more daily tasks. Many times the victim is an innocent person, criminalized by racial profiling and can be harmed whether physically or emotionally. Racial profiling is not only harmful to the victim but dangerous to society.

Recently, at Yale University a white student calls the police on a black graduate student sleeping in her dorms common room. When the police arrived the black graduate student was nearly placed under arrest under the assumption that the black student did not belong at the Yale dormitories. The most probable reason the white student believed the black person did not belong is because black people are stereotyped as unintelligent, unable to get into a prestigious school like Yale. Moreover, a black Princeton professor Imani Perry was arrested for a speeding ticket and was subjected to harsher punishment. She believes the cops racially profiled her because due to her race she could have caused potential harm, therefore, arresting her and giving harsher punishments. …show more content…
