The civil rights movement has been fighting this issue for a while and little by little laws are being put into place to stop the prejudice and discrimination by police. I was stopped at 5:00am in the morning because my windows were out on my van at least that was the reason the officer gave for stopping me. From that day on, I will never stop on a road where there are no witnesses. Young black men seem to be the target for police. In the state of Missouri a young black man was gunned down in the street after his surrender. In another case a young black man was killed because he walked through a predominately white neighborhood. In another state, a young black man was choked to death after he told the police that he could not breathe. The latest killing took place when a young black man surrendered and was thrown into a police car without restraints, when the car stopped, the young man was dead, his neck snapped when the police car came to a sudden stop. I believe if more action were taken against police on racial profiling, then this problem would not be in the news as much. I am not applauding the fact that riots and looting have took over cities in other parts of the country in protest against racial profiling, but I am glad for peaceful protest for justice an opportunity for minorities to be treated equal and …show more content…
60 individuals were interviewed in this study both black and whites. The study reveals that blacks are targeted to be stopped on suspicions alone. Blacks feel as if their freedom to drive has been provoked because of their skin color. Therefore racial tension continues on the rise.
