In The Crucible, Act 1 is rather chaotic as so many characters are introduced and the Act ends with many characters being accused of witchcraft. Abigail blames Tituba and accuses her of forcing the girls to practice witchcraft. So when they question Tituba she confesses that she saw Sarah Good and Goody Osburn with the devil. Then Abigail and Betty start yelling out the following names of people who they supposedly saw with the devil accusing one person after another. Sarah Good, Goody Osburn, Bridget Bishop, George Jacobs, Goody Howe, Martha Bellows, Goody Sibber, Alice Barrow, Goody Hawkins, Goody Bibber, and Goody Booth were all accused of being with the devil. For example, just a week ago a student named Ahmed Mohamed aged 14, brought a homemade clock to school to show his teacher was quick to be accused of bringing a bomb to school and was arrested because of racial profiling. Another example of racial profiling presented today, is the story of two African-American brothers in Denver, who were racially profiled by Colorado Springs Police during a traffic stop in March. The brothers were asked to get out of the car and were checked for weapons because the car had “very dark tinted windows.” If you look at the total amount of police stops in Oakland the races of people who got their car stopped were 9,034 African-Americans, 2,524 latino and 1,711 white. Their car got stopped not for doing anything wrong but because they seemed suspicious and darker skinned people are usually the ones to be considered suspicious based solely because of modern day stereotypes. And there are countless stories of many other people being accused of crime solely because of their appearance, not because they did anything wrong. Will racial profiling ever come to an end is a mystery as it’s been going on for countless years, from the time of the setting in the Crucible to before that even, and still exists
