In an article, Jim Crow Policy by Bob Herbert argues, “An overwhelming 84 percent of the stops in the first three-quarters of 2009 were of black Hispanic New Yorkers” (Jim Crow). Most of these arrests the police made, were mostly of African and Hispanic people which is really disturbing. Most of these arrests the police made were also unnecessary, so this clarifies that the authorities were also racial profiling. In another article, Everything Isn’t Racial Profiling by Linda Chavez she states, “Sure it’s unpleasant to be a suspect when you’re innocent” (Chavez 565). She understands how some people feel when they are suspects of such problems because she has been one of those suspects herself.
