Racism is “the prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior (Dictionary.com).” Racism against individuals who are different from the dominant group has been going on for centuries, but a vast amount of white individuals are in denial that this still exists. The article titled 10 Ways White Liberals Perpetuate Racism, states how white liberal individuals “do not even see color (Sachs, F21),” which is problematic because it derails the process of addressing racism, it also implies that color may actually be a problem which may possibly be the reason why you are ignoring it. This article also addresses that white individuals do not feel as if racism does exist because we had a black president and they voted for him, white people feel as if they have to try and prove to others that they are not racist. It astonishes me how the dominant group has the ability to try and hide and run away from issue of racism, rather than attempt to face it head on. Once we are able to acknowledge that racism does address, and be able to have open conversations regarding racism is only when we will be able to address undisclosed issues that impact
