Racial Profiling Be Abolished Essay

The act of racial profiling could be abolished if special interest groups would join forces to push Congress to do what is not only right, but constitutional. Unfortunately racial profiling is as American as apple pie and has always been part of American history. American citizens are being subjected to unfair police actions by the same people that are supposed to be protecting them. Although strides have been made in the right direction, the end of racial profiling has not been seen. Racial profiling is the act of targeting a person based on their personal characteristics such as race, ethnicity, religion, and origin. American minorities have experienced racial profiling throughout the history of our nation. Racial profiling could very well be derived from fear or maybe the fact that the group they are profiling doesn’t fit into their standards of the definition of normal. Federal agents escorted Ms. Hebshi and the two men off the airplane in handcuffs. Ms. Hebshi was placed in a cell where she was strip searched, at which point she was ordered to squat and cough in front of an officer. Ms. Hebshi was not told the nature of why she was being detained even though she pleaded to know what was going on. Frightened and humiliated Ms. Hebshi was captive in a dirty cell for more than four hours. The airline viewed complaints against the three travelers from other passengers was simply that two of them had gone to the bathroom as justifiable. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed suit on behalf of Ms. Hebshi against all involved
