Racial prejudice plays a major role in the tragedy, Othello, written by William Shakespeare. In Othello, the main two characters that have fallen in love are two different races, which entails some prejudice acts. Othello is referred to as many different things such as a “old black ram.” Many people also make remarks referring to his “thick lips,” and his skin color. “I am one, sir, that comes to tell you your daughter and the Moor are now making the beast with two backs,” Brabantio tells Desdemona father. Although Desdemona has fallen in love with Othello, her father feels as if Othello has trick her into marrying him.
