Recently, a family friend was on the phone with customer service, I over heard her struggling to explain herself. When I took over the call, the customer representative was laughing. Unprofessional aside, how would the customer service representative feel if this happened to her or someone she loves? Additionally, there’s also the racist comments we often overlook or dismiss to avoid conflicts. I helped a friend who recently had surgery move, and I was able to pack all of her belongings into a tiny sedan. Afterwards she said to her son “She’s Asian, she can get everything to work.” She had the best of intentions, but a simple thank you is more than sufficient. Furthermore, my capability should not be measured by my ethnicity. Each person has their unique way of dealing with issues when it arises. For immigrants, they have a whole new set of hardship many Americans are unaware of. The unique nature of immigrants made them a hot discussion topic for many college essays, and each essay is only a glimpse of the obstacles they face.
