Racial Discrimination On College Campuses

Racial discrimination on college campuses is a problem, not only for this generation, but many to come. How can students be expected to be professional and show respect when they aren’t treated with the same consideration. Racial discrimination is alive and is present within our college campuses. Minorities have been targeted with insults, racial slurs, and have been treated like criminals, which is evident throughout our history of the trail of tears to the civil war and to the Japanese concentration camps during the bombing of Pearl Harbor (World War II). Minorities are grouped into stereotypes and are judged due to crimes committed by someone who looks like them. Racial discrimination isolates, divides, and sets apart one race from one another. Instances include: The University of Oklahoma, “… a video [was released] showing the members of [the] University of Oklahoma’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon chanting racist slurs…” (Krupke and Wright, We need to talk about racism on college campuses), In the University of Missouri “… a drunken white student disrupted the Legion
