The most debatable topic in today’s society is racial discrimination. There has been many controversies and arguments, but it is definite that African Americans are more discriminated and judged in our general public. Ever since the 1600’s, our American society has been unfair to judge African Americans because of their looks, slightly different lifestyles, and the pigmentation of their skin; this is extremely saddening. Yes slavery is abolished, but it doesn’t mean that it is not still in mind. Love for African Americans was unreal, and a home for them was basically unimaginable. Waking up each and everyday being guarded by their rusty shoes, watching the clouds push each other in the sky, is saddening. Working on tobacco and cotton farms, being yelled at by the rain, heat, and sun, all conclude to why not just African American discrimination, but all racial discrimination is wrong. The novel showcased the multiple reasons why racism towards poor African Americans can cause problems and major accusations to rise up. The racist characters and the African American characters in the novel certainly brought the idea of having good and bad intentions to life.
