Now, our text says, “Racial discrimination is unacceptable, no matter who expresses it”*. Racial discrimination is merely a perceived sense of superiority over a specific race, and this is due nothing more than ignorance towards a different cultural background.
“A Time to Kill” is illustrating to its viewers the perceived difficulties of being a “Black American” in the southern states. However, the film plays to our emotions as parents by having a little black girl raped by two “white” men, which causes a huge uproar in the small town. Carl, the father of the little girl, killed the two men and wounded a deputy because he feared the two men were going to walk away as “free men”. After this act, Carl was arrested and the district attorney over the case is trying for death penalty, and in my opinion the death penalty was sought because of the interracial …show more content…
Throughout the entirety of the movie, there were multiple instances of violence and racism coming from different white supremacist groups seeking justice for the gun down men. For example, during the trial a fight broke out between the local black community and the KKK. This fight resulted in many individuals, both white and black, becoming injured in the unruly brawl outside of the court house. However, the brawl also shows Jake rushing into the brawl risking his life to save a black guard from being beat to death by a KKK
