Although, many feel that the United States has overcome its rustic history, the legacies of colonialism, slavery, and racism, which still affects our policies and practices today. Since the beginning of America, African Americans were forced to migrate to America as slaves. Slaves were considered to be the property of their masters based on a hierarchy system, where whites ruled at the top. Slaves had to follow the slave code, which gave them zero rights or freedoms. Slaves were treated like a little rock on the street. They experienced brutal and inhumane treatment that no anyone could imagine.
