Define the Issue Racial discrimination and prejudice have been occurring in America for several years. Many Americans believed that after the Civil War and the Jim Crow period, African Americans would be treated the correct and humane. However, people still continue to be bias towards their race. Influenced by the past, these tensions held against the African American race still continue today. There are feelings of racial domination believing that whites control the country. Some whites believe that African Americans cannot participate in a community of an American society. Many white Americans believe that the country has put racial issues behind in the past, and that there is no more racial discrimination among the citizens. However, the most momentous view pushed by the film was that racism and prejudice still exist. One of the problems is that most African Americans are in poverty and are pushed to live in shoddy homes. In addition, many believe that there is no racial discrimination. One viewpoint is that if African Americans cannot succeed in life, then they are trapped at the bottom and will never thrive. Many people who are against racial discrimination believe that humans are not seeing the equality of the social world, and that we are not living in a democracy. The media pushes racial discrimination by continuously broadcasting a white police officer killing an African American. Consequently, this only stirs up more racial discrimination. Majority of the African American population considers that court decisions are biased towards race. People suggest that black culture is not fit for American society. Many of the white population view African Americans on the street as thugs and gangsters that only cause trouble for the community.
