There are many forms of racial discrimination throughout America that occur in various ways. It may seem as if racial discrimination has ceased in America. However, it is happening nationwide on a day to day basis in many subtle forms. Racial discrimination in housing occurs in the housing market throughout America. Racial discrimination also occurs with money for non-white people in America. Identifying racial discrimination is important because it's a nationwide issues that negatively affects minorities by denying them the chances they deserve, this in turn stops them from achieving the American dream many came here for. An example of racial discrimination with money is found within an article written by Shaila Dewan, in which the author discusses how many minority clients were asked many more questions about their finances. These clients were also given fewer offers to help finance a loan. It was also stated that apartments cost significantly less for white people. This provides vital examples in showing racial discrimination with money (“Discrimination in Housing”). According to the article “Hurricane Sandy and New Jersey's poor”, Governor Chris Christie's administration has tried to undermine the state's affordable housing but couldn't due to the New Jersey Supreme Court. This article infers he was trying to deny the poor people's housing, subsequently most poor people in that area are of minority. Therefore this could be an act of racial discrimination (Editorial Board). In the poem Let America be America Again, it expresses how many minorities are treated wrong. In lines 30-37 it expresses how all the people who were taken advantage of are suffering at the bottom of society, the Negro servant to all, the poorest worker, the hungry and humble all at the bottom (Hughes).
