Although it is almost an obvious, it is something I haven't really thought about. With the bias we have about race, religion, preferences with relationships and etc., it affects the way we feel about issues and policies that are brought up. Discrimination is a thing that affects everybody. Personally, even though I know that nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes, I catch myself “condemning” certain people more because of their looks and/or beliefs. I grew up with people in my family that were pretty much racist. Because of that, I find myself gravitate towards hanging out with people who look like me instead of expanding my connections. I remember reading an article about the huge number of animals that are still waiting to be adopted in animal shelters and the pattern was that many of the ones still left in animal shelters are animals that have darker colored fur. I could understand why. If I were to look into adoption, I probably would’ve paid more attention to dogs with white fur rather than a black cat. It is the way we are conditioned to act from the stuff around us, especially media. If a black person was to be arrested, the description would include everything about the crime but if it was a white person, the news would probably include their achievements or credentials to make that person seem less of a criminal but a person who just made a
