In this 1994 sitcom, Rachel Green, Ross Geller, Monica Geller, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing and Phoebe Buffay are all friends, living off of one another in the heart of NY. Over the course of 8 years, these average group of buddy’s go through massive mayhem, family trouble, past and future romances, fights, laughs, tears and surprises as they learn what it really means to be a friend. In the T.V show there were numerous relationships, but the one that stands out to me is the relationship between Ross Geller, and Rachel Green.
The relationship between Ross and Rachel has certainly had its up’s and down’s. In the first episode of Friends Ross is seen talking to Rachel. Ross was trying to make to show that he is interested in making contact

In the clip Ross shows the employees where Rachel works that they go together by buying a dozen gifts and flowers. He even arranges for four guys to sing a song to her about having a boyfriend. Ross wants the world to know that Rachel has a boyfriend, even the people at her job).
The next stage of relational development is the differentiating stage. In this stage the “we” orientation that has developed shifts to more of a “me” feeling. In the clip Rachel comes home from work and is in a horrible mood. When she walks through the door she begins to apologize to Ross, but he says “its fine you were stressed”. Racheal then said “I was going to give you a chance to apologize to me”. They are no longer “we” orientated (pg. 259, Adler, Proctor).
The next stage is the circumscribing stage. In this stage communication between both parties decrease significantly. In the clip Ross and Rachel are starting to have their differences. The conversations are starting to decline. Rachel is just nitpicking with Ross. In the clip instead of talking it out with Rachel, Ross just said “can you be quiet until the doctor gets here”. Ross instead opts for withdraw orientated (pg. 259, Adler,

Steel Magnolias is my favorite movie. This movie reflects the daily lives of six southern women with different personalities and careers. Being a southern girl I could see myself in one of the characters. M'Lynn, Truvy, Annelle, Claree, Shelby and my favorite Ouiser all had a unique personality but are alike in so many ways which is the love they have for their families, one another, and the support for each other during family crisis. They laughed together, cried together and even made jokes about one another but as friends they always made the best out of all obstacles that crossed them rather it was a happy occasion or tragic.…

Another form of analysis that Freud could make about Batman and his life is by using his idea of the doctrine of opposites.…
