The greatest predictors of poverty in America are race-ethnicity, education and sex of the person who is head of the family(Henslin., 2013., p. 232). Race-ethnicity is the strongest factor in poverty and while white people are poor it should be considered that they are a very large group comparatively to many of the minorities that make up the population of the country as Henslin states that twelve percent of whites are in poverty, but twenty five percent of Latinos, twenty six percent of African Americans and twenty seven percent of Native Americans are poor (2013., p. 232).
