Persuasive Essay It was a beautiful summer morning with sunshine and it was 72 degrees outside. I was never able to just rest when I was tired out on the dry grassy grounds of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota during a 5K cross country race. Before the race I was very nervous and I would hope that it would not start. When the race started, it was extremely intense with all the runners around me moving faster as I struggled to keep up with them. I had a few options in front of me, some were easy and some were really hard while running. My easiest option was to just give up and walk out of the race which tempted me. Another option could be to cut corners and shorten my distance, but the crowd was watching and that would reflect on my

Wasn’t racism supposed to end long before 2016? I thought so too. There is absolutely no way racism is completely over. It really frustrates me seeing “all lives matter” sayings all over the internet; not because I don’t agree (because I do agree all lives matter) but because racism shouldn’t even be a major topic anymore. I do believe there is such thing as white privilege and it’s getting out of hand.…

The Social construction of Race Race-The Power Of Illusion video describes whether the race is biological myth or socially constructed. It mentions the views of normal people and people who are specialized in the anthropology, genetics or biologist on race. From that video, all research and argues open my eyes about the race construction in our society. I conclude that the racial is rooted in a false believe that it is characterized by the physical appearances like hair color, skin color, eye shape, body shape and so on and these characters are the key points to classify the different races.…

Back in 1950s anthropologists discovered that race was just a myth. Why should we be divided by race in the first place? When you watched the news you see all these Caucasian cops shooting African Americans that have guns or fighting back with the cops causing a riot over racism, but when the tables are turned around and an African American cop shoots a Caucasian guy that clearly is following the law and has his hands up it doesn't show up on the news because supposedly that is okay and not racism. Race is a "scientific fact" because I believe there is no such thing because we shouldn't be judged on our color, race is supposed to tell us something about our genetic history. In biological terms, race is the process of evolution and the origin of species, it is a part of the formation of the new species and differentiations.…

Racism is an issue that is real and is still being practiced by many citizens and law enforcers in the United States. This is a serious matter that not many people realize is still a problem for the lives of minorities. Americans ignorantly think that racism is something of the past and that these races having nothing to worry or that they deserve what they got from getting violent treatment from an officer; this mindset that many white Americans have is far from what is actually going on. Many people voted for Barack Obama because they believed it was proof that we in the US have conquered race-relations - unfortunately, once elected and after 8-years we see that race-relations are worse than they were in the late 70s and early 80s, basically we lost nearly 4-decades of improvement in race-relations. Now then, what might hiring Hillary Clinton as president do for male-female relations or gender relations? Personally, I like women and wouldn't want to live in a world without them, and the last thing I'd want is to have a war of the planets, men being from Mars and women being from Venus, as there is already enough tension between the sexes of our species. Why even mention this?…

“Race is the differences in human physical characteristics used to categorize large numbers of individuals.” (Giddens 2017: 286). Racial diversity appeared among our human ancestors as the result of living in different geographic regions of the world. Although we think of race in terms of biological elements, race is a socially constructed concept. It is true that human beings differ in any number of ways involving physical traits, but a “race” comes into being only when the members of a society decide that some physical trait actually matters.…

Fifty years ago, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 abolished segregation across the United States. Although the United States has come a long way in racial equality, one question remains – does one’s race still matter? One would hope that after half a century since segregation ended, race would no longer be an issue in modern society, but this is not the case. I would like to tackle this question by saying that race still matters in one’s everyday life.…
