Biology and society definitely have a big impact on our behaviors, although, I do think that society has sculpted our traits and the way we think about them. Society has impacted our thoughts on what is acceptable and what is not when it comes to race and gender. Working in an elementary school, I have witnessed a lot of children stereotyping genders. Just the other day there was an incident where a little girl got her feelings hurt since the boys would not let her play basketball with them. When talking to the boys about why they thought this would be okay, one of them said, “girl’s shouldn’t play boys sports”.
