Race And Discrimination

Improved Essays
Race is what forms a division between people which can cause the problem of discrimination. Racism is an issue that we deal with today and the past that few people are aware about. There are many examples of how it is still present in our current society. One example is in our current president Trump. This is evident when Donald Trump advertised his campaign for president. He stated, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems.…They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.” This shows that from the beginning of his candidacy he has started by attacking other races such as Mexican immigrants by calling them criminals.

In an interview, Donald John Trump, an American businessperson and a Republican candidate running for president, specified: “ The immigrants are bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, and they’re rapists. It’s coming from Mexico. It’s coming from the south and Latin America and it’s coming, probably, from the Middle East, but we don’t know because we have no protection.” As a result of the immigrants coming into America, Trump wants to create the immigration plan. If Trump’s plan is carried out, the Mexicans would be unauthorized to enter America because of the “great great wall,” possible recessions and riots would take place, and all illegal immigrants including the birthright citizens will be forced to leave America.…

Donald Trump is known far and wide as the man who wants to build a huge wall between America and Mexico to keep out immigrants. Trump believes that building a wall is going to make all the violence and issues of the country disappear but Clinton is smarter than that. Clinton wants to work on getting rid of violence all together and she understands that ones race doesn’t determine whether they are violent or not. Violence is a huge problem in this country that needs to be fixed but getting rid of a race isn’t going to fix it. When I first heard Trump say, “We have some bad hombres here, and we are going to get them out.…

White Privilege in America The United States of America is a nation built “by the (white) people for the (white) people” during a time in history when the vast majority of American citizen were white. The very foundations of American society and government are structured specifically to accommodate that, supplying advantages to whites over minorities. This systematic racism deep-rooted in the core of this country hindered the progress of colored people, harbored white superiority and created white privilege. Since its establishment in 1776, America has always been viewed as a predominantly white country.…

In one of his campaign speeches, as well as on twitter, presidential candidate Donald Trump has accused undocumented Mexican immigrants as “rapists, drug dealers, and murderers.” This accusation is heavily unfounded and extremely hurtful to the Mexican community. Maybe if Donald Trump knew that crime rates are lower with undocumented immigrants, as well as murders according to the --. Calling us rapists is another unfounded accusation when according to a Fusion investigation, 80% of Central American women have been raped while crossing the border by coyotes or even border patrol officers themselves. This is so common, in fact, that women are actually crossing while on contraceptives as a precaution.…

He has said many racial slurs. In one of Donald Trumps many speeches he had said, “sending people that have lots of problems” to America including rapists, drug runners and other crimminals. Donald Trump was implying that all Mexicans were just trouble makers. Another example of a racial slur Trump had made was when he had an interview to a business insider where he described the idea that the Mexican government is purposely “pushing the bad ones” to the US. he has said word for word that “The United States has become a dumping ground for Mexico and, in fact, for many other parts of the world.”…

How racism has changed America for the worse Intro Racism, the prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race is a very touchy subject in the media today, as race is a very vague word with different meanings to different people and racism overall, can be many things. Race can be tied to a person’s origin, language, skin color, place of birth etc. and differs from place to place. For example, Americans view the country of Rwanda to have one race, but the 2 main groups, the Hutus and the Tutsi view themselves as two different races. Racism still seems to be present in 2017 and ranges from a misconception due to a stereotype to the biggest authority in the United States deeming a large group of people as “rapists and criminals”. But how does racism start is the real question.…

Why is racism so deeply rooted among American history? Why is something as simple as skin color such subject to prejudice and discrimination in today’s society? The United States of America is built off of cruel acts of slavery and racism. So many white Americans did not realize that the acts they performed were horribly wrong and inhumane. They excused themselves simply because darker skin meant that that person was also inferior.…

By stating that Mexican does not send out their best people, Trump referred to the fact in 2014, as also reiterated by Migration Policy Institute (Zong & Batalova, 2017), that 69% of Mexican immigrants aged above 5 came to the U.S with limited proficiency, higher then all immigrants’ average of 50%, and only 6% over age 25 had a bachelor degree or higher compared to the 29% of all immigrants average, and 30% of native born. As the impact of the low-paying job they get, 28% of Mexican immigrants lived in property and have the lowest household income median compared to all immigrants’ and native-born (Zong & Batalova, 2017). However, there is also misconception construed within the statement. A large percentage of Mexican immigrants led a stable and honest life- although for some it is back-breaking. One-third of them own homes and only 7% convicted as criminals and furthermore, only a fraction of those, only 3%, had been convicted of felonies or serious misdemeanors (Yee, Davis, & Patel,…
