“An individual’s identity is shaped by the way they perceive their connections with others and the world around them.” How is this view represented in the film Rabbit-proof Fence directed by Phil Noyce and the novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas written by John Boyne?
Identity, the fact of being whom or what a person or thing is. We as humans in this growing society are influenced from others and the world around us, furthermore benefiting the identity of an individual. In the two texts Rabbit Proof Fence (RPF) by Phil Noyce and the novel The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas (BISP) by John Boyne; there are connections and links that relates back to the perception of how we perceive our own identity, something the defines us. This paper will display how identity shaped by characters and places within the two texts, creates the sense of belonging in individual characters.
RPF is about three ‘halve castes’ girls from Jigalong who go beyond belief and travel boundless miles to reach their loved ones from the ruins of Moore River.
