RPI-1 Case Study

Decent Essays
RPI-1 is an ATP-dependent Ret tyrosine kinase inhibitor [1]. The ret proto-oncogene encodes a receptor protein tyrosine kinase involved in the etiology of human tumors. RET loss of function mutations are associated with the development of Hirschsprung's disease, and gain of function mutations are associated with the development of various types of human cancer, including medullary thyroid carcinoma, multiple endocrine neoplasias, pheochromocytoma and parathyroid hyperplasia. In NIH3T3 fibroblasts expressing the Ret/ptc1 target tyrosine kinase (NIH3T3ptc1), RPI-1 preferentially inhibited the anchorage-independent growth with IC50 value of 0.97 µM [1]. In the N592 SCLC and H460 NSCLC cell lines, RPI-1 dose-dependently inhibited Met phosphorylation.

The general model introduced in Fig.4.10 is commonly used to design stable high-order modulators. If a chain of integrators is used to form the loop filter, two main modulators typologies exist [1, 5, 8]: a cascade of M delaying integrators is used to form the filter, where the feedback and the input signals are being fed to each integrator input with different weight factors a_i and b_i (Fig.4.11). The transfer function of the signal filter, L_0, is: while the feedback filter L_1 can be derived as: where a_i and b_i>0. The NTF results: Note that the NTF zeros must lie at 푧=1 (i.e. DC). The weight factors a_i can be used to introduce finite non-zero poles into the NTF and to determine the zeros of L_1 (z).…

This should be taught in EWRT 1B because to this day, students in college are afraid to take pride in their ethnicity or to show their sexuality in fear of being judged. Many students in society often get bullied because of their race. Reality shows that even some companies hire/terminate employees based on race, even when they are not allowed to discriminate. One of my friend’s old workplace fired several workers. The reasons behind the work terminations are not too certain, but the workers had one thing in common, they were asian.…

Plasmid Interference in Regulation of the Type III Secretion System in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogen, commonly colonizes patients with cystic fibrosis (1) and contributes to a sizeable proportion of antibiotic-resistant nosocomial infections (2). Acute P. aeruginosa infections are characterized by the expression of the type III secretion system (T3SS) comprised of a needle-like apparatus used to inject exoenzymes into neighboring cells (1, 3). These toxic effector proteins enable P. aeruginosa to spread throughout the host while evading immune responses such as phagocytosis (REF). The T3SS is regulated through several pathways, one of which is the RsmAYZ system (3).…

Peer Assessment 2 Choose one out of paracrine signalling, endocrine signalling, autocrine signalling and direct signalling and describe brie y the process by which this occurs. The Endocrine signalling occurs over long distances in the body and the signal is sent through the blood. Firstly, the cell inside the pituitary gland sends hormones into the blood stream over a long distance and once it gets reaches to a cell with the right receptor, the hormones will attach themselves to the receptor of that cell and go inside the cell and trigger a response. For example, the anterior pituitary lobe will release adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) to stimulate cortisol production in the adrenal glands when you’re stressed.…
