First of all, No thirteen year olds should not be allowed to watch rated R movies because the movies could give off the effect of their inappropriate behaviors and give them high standards on seeking tendency. The effect of the movies that give off the bad habits target the kids as an aspect to drug use, alcohol use and foul language. “It does affect them. They see that and they take that in and that becomes part of who they are because that’s what they’re learning,” ( Andrew Gaug). Past studies, including one in 2010 in Prevention Science, a scientific journal of the Society for Prevention Research, have shown R-rated and violent movies may cause children to try alcohol at an early age because of its glorification, as well as becoming desensitized and violent. ¨R-rated movies portray violence and other behaviors deemed inappropriate for children under seventeen years of age.¨ The movies violence could inherit the behavior of young kids and they mirror what they see on the movie and think it´s okay to use in real life. This could lead to a life of violence, and violent tendencies. These movies also leave trauma to the kids as they believe it is real and has an aspect into their life for it´ll always stay. “I talk to a lot of kids who deal with trauma, and it’s interesting that they will mention something like a violent movie as a traumatizing event,” she says. “It obviously left a big impression on them and lingers with them.” (Andrew
