B. The central message that “R. Crumb’s A Short History of America” by James H. Kunstler is being presented to me is an upsetting and a disturbing one. In the first photo, we see that there is a forest next to an open field with wildlife peacefully living their lives with no worries. With each photo seen, that same forest next to the open field begins to change as new inventions are being created. As new technology is introduced to the land, the forest and fields that were once so beautiful and filled with life, begin to disappear.

In the Chevrolet commercial, it seems that they are trying to send two messages. One of the message that is being presented to their audience is that Chevrolet builds sturdy trucks that can be reliable for many years. In the commercial, it shows a family outside of an auto repair shop and they look concerned like they just got in a car accident. The mechanic steps out of the shop stating that the truck is too old for how much it would cost to fix it. As the owner of the truck grabs his belongings out of the glove compartment, there’s a black and white photo of him as a child with his father and the truck is in the background. Now saying that, the other message that Chevrolet is trying to send is an emotional one. The moment the owner looks at the photograph, it seems like all his memories as a child with the truck came back to him. So, owner signs a blank check and hands it to the mechanic and tell him to just fix the truck. The message is, no one can put a price on precious …show more content…
With this commercial, I feel I would be a resistant audience. If I had to decide on whether I should put a blank check in the hands of a mechanic to fix a truck that might break down again or purchase a newer, more reliable, vehicle, I would have to go with a newer vehicle. Now the audience that I think the commercial is trying to neutral one. Most people are not mechanically inclined when it comes to vehicles, so a Chevrolet truck would be perfect. With a Chevrolet truck, with just basic maintenance, the truck can last a very long time.
D. Pathos appeal is appropriate for this commercial. When the owner of the truck was outside, he was met by what looks like his son and wife. After the wife asked if he was ok, she proceeds to ask him if the truck was part of the family. Also, after the man hands the blank check to mechanic, the family leave the repair shop with a sign of relief like they are getting an old friend back.
E. Watching this commercial, I found the argument not very persuasive in my eyes. I can’t see anyone spending so much money on an older vehicle that will most likely break down in the near future. I also don’t understand that if the man has a child, why would he think about the child’s safety? With newer vehicles, the safety features are impeccable compared to an extremely old model vehicle. If I were to change anything to the commercial, I would have added flashbacks of the man in his childhood with his father driving the truck. Other than that one change,
