It is said that the things that are perceived as sacred, are the things that correspond with God’s wishes and commands (Perry). In the Muslim culture, Allah is God, the Quran is their holy book, and Muhammad was their last prophet (Grant). The Quran was created by Muhammad and includes Sharia Law, the Law of Islam. Sharia Law includes the words and actions of Muhammad on things private beliefs, public behavior and private behavior(“Sharia Law”). Sharia Law is the the most stringent in the world today. The Quran and Sharia law definitely promote violence and reveals oppression. However, The Quran and Sharia Law can be interpreted differently and given some flexibility by different Imams and caliphs, but the Sharia Law will always be demonstrated …show more content…
Syria has been ruled by Alawites, a religious group in Syria, including their president, Bashar al-Assad, who dislike Shia Muslims (Ward). This makes it harder for the Shia community in Syria. Especially when they are both fighting for power, causing their lands to become oppressed. Not only that, but in Iraq it was once ruled by a Sunni minority over the Shiite majority, it wasn’t until the US came in and overthrew the Sunni government, and Shiite government rightfully took over (Ward). However, it explains why certain groups of Muslims, including ISIS, Sunni Muslims, despise America for the all pain and loss they caused them. For example, Osama bin Laden was also a Sunni Muslim. After September 11, 2001, a horrific terrorist attack, Osama said, "What America is tasting now is only a copy of what we have tasted. ... Our Islamic nation has been tasting the same for more [than] eighty years, of humiliation and disgrace, its sons killed and their blood spilled, its sanctities desecrated." (“Difference between Sunni and Shiite”). For decades, Iraq Sunni Muslims and Iraq Shiite Muslims have been fighting for power (Ward). Iran and Syria, as well Syria and Iraq have all had fights that are still going on today. The more they fight, the more innocent lives are killed, problems become unsolved, and greed becomes a characteristics. Let alone, the more people are forced to flee their country in hopes for safety. Yahya Hassan, a Danish poet whose parents are Muslim and disagrees with their culture based on how he’s grown up, main topic in his poems would be religious hypocrisy. He explains how his parents had to flee a country full of violence, to emigrate into a safer country, yet they call everyone there infidels, people who don’t believe in a certain religion.
