Jack, in the beginning of the book, was the first to notice they’d have to kill for survival. Jack also had no problem getting used to the customs of killing and the island itself. The killing became a joke and a game for him and some of the boys that hunted with him they’d make chants about how they’d kill the pigs. In the book Jack was the first to yell, get mad or leave. Jack continuously hit, yelled and screamed at Piggy to shut up and if he didn’t he threatened to hurt him or he would just hurt him. Jack also wanted Piggy dead because Piggy was the only one that would keep the laws and rules going in the mass of boys. Jack as a leader wasn 't that good, he was actually really bad at leading a big group because he says one thing like in the beginning of the book he says yeah yeah we need rules a lot of rules but then he ends up saying that he doesn 't care about the rules and that no one needs them. He was always persuading the “littluns” to do things that they shouldn’t, the only reason they did it is because they were scared of the things he might do to them. This evidence proves that Jack didn 't grow up in a good environment by simply showing that if he would’ve he wouldn 't tell the “littluns” to do the things that he asked them to do. Ralph was a good leader. He hardly never yelled unless he was yelling at Jack to stop being stupid because he was the one that was causing a lot of problems in the camp. Ralph was always the one to call assemblies to get ideas to fix problems like the “snakes” being the vines. He got scared a lot because of the group or for the group like when Jack and his boys let the fire go out and Ralph saw a bout in the distance and there was no fire for them to see so they could maybe go home. Ralph no matter what always had a level head on his shoulders though and that is what a lot of the boys liked about him. As you can see Ralph grew up in an enriched environment like i said before he was around a lot of people that would give him encouragement to keep him going and to keep him focused Ralph grew up in an area that had a lot of people that cared about him and his success and the people he grew up around also cared about their success so is like an example that he may have taken into consideration. They also most likely taught him to never give up unless he knows that he’s been beat like when he was scared to blow the conch because he didn 't know if the boys would come back and if they didn 't then it’d mean he was out of being
