The writings of Sophocles can be viewed as antagonistic and debatable. This belief is evident in the play Antigone. Through the characters in the play Sophocles presents different views of justice. The characters in the play have differing views of what justice really means.

Through the Characters we see jealousy, courage, passion, and commitment displayed. Each character attempts to gain control to the point that discord and devastation is the result. Despite all of this Antigone attempts to achieve justice for her brother. Antigone deals with the emotions that we all as human beings feel. She has to balance her morals and what she feels is right against situations that may go against those desires. Often people have to make a stand on issues and decide how far they will go for their beliefs in what is just. Antigone displays great courage in the play by standing up for what she believes is just. She is so determined in her beliefs that she is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, her own life.
