In the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” Anne Frank and her family are in an Annex up above her father's workplace. At the end of the story she says “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” From this we can tell that Anne was very optimistic, forgiving, and kind. You may be wondering how we can tell she’s those things from one single quote. Well I’m about to show you how.

How is she optimistic? The Frank family was in the Annex for two years and in most of that time Anne kept a positive attitude. During world war two nobody was ever in a good mood. Anne stayed optimistic she hoped she would get out she knew she would get out. One time when everybody was in an awful attitude she said “We’ll get out when this is over.”

How is she forgiving? Well

“Presents!”
She got everyone a present. After giving everyone there present she finally says “Last but never least, my roommate, Mr. Dussel.”
“For me? You have something for me?”
Anne hands him a box and he opens it they are ear-plugs.
“Ear-plugs?”
“To put in your ears so you won’t hear me when I thrash around at night.”
She forgave him for wishing she was dead.

How is she kind? She is kind to her father, Peter, and Margot. She is also kind to people no matter how hateful they are. One time during Hanukkah she got everyone gifts. She got Margot a crossword puzzle book. Margot was so happy and said “A new crossword puzzle book! Where did you get it?”
“It isn’t new. It’s one that you’ve done. But I rubbed it all out, and if you wait a little and forget, you can do it all over again.”
For her father she made him a muffler. “I made it out of odds and end.”
Her father was grateful and said “It’s fine. It fits me perfectly. Thank you, Annele.”
She got peter a safety razor which he was grateful for.
