This is said by Arrow. She is remembering the time she borrowed her father’s car to go see some friends who lived in the country. Her favorite song came on, and the way the shadow of the leaves landed on her window made her pull over to cry. Arrow felt very happy and joyous to be alive. An experience i had like this was when i went scuba diving for the first time. My dad has been diving for a very long time, and i convinced him to take me with him when i was 10. I had always loved the ocean, so it was a very profound experience. We were staying at in a resort in Mexico, near Cancun. I’d been asking my dad to take me for years before, so they got me diving lessons at the UofA over the summer before. I was so excited when i got there, because i knew i was going to be able to go. We went to the dive shop a couple of days later, and next thing i knew we were on a small boat, headed for the Great Maya reef. I was absolutely ecstatic. Once we arrived, we slowly descended into the water. I remember being amazed by the sheer multitude of fish swimming around the reef. The coral in the spot we went was very colorful, and was barely damaged at all. It was gorgeous. We saw Moray Eels, Eagle Rays, Lionfish, Barracudas, and Caribbean Lobsters. I was amazed, i’d never seen anything like it before. I had only ever seen pictures. I was introduced to a whole new world that day. I knew from that point that scuba diving was going to be a significant part of my life from that day on, which it still is.
