The author butts once again. Pi and the author are now sitting in a café. The author feels his life compared to Pi’s most likely seems dull and ordinary. He ponder on Pi’s religious viewpoints and devotions.
Chapter Twenty-Two:
Pi is now talking about an atheist’s death, how the person is taking a final bound of faith. For Pi, the uncertainty cripples the agnostic person, even in death.

Pi takes the time to reflect on that episode with the few religious leaders as a symbolic moment. He thinks that people have been so concerned about defending their God(s) with profound rage and hatred that they forget to love people too, and that these kind of people are misunderstanding religion.
