Quotes Depicted In The Book Sketh By Helmuth

Decent Essays
While reading this story, I came across multiple quotes that meant something to me. One of my favorite quotes from this story is found on page 154, “ No. Helmuth does not believe he is foolish. He did not risk his life in vain. God can bring good out of evil, but God can’t do it alone. God needs people. People who will stand up. People who will dare to speak out. For what has man profited, if he has gained the whole world and lost his soul?” I feel this quote has so much meaning behind it, and it symbolizes the meaning of the entire book. Helmuth did what he thought was right, and he serves as an example for us even today. He did not choose to do what was easy, instead he choose to do what he believes in. This quote defines Helmuth’s life

The Quote I agree fully with this quote, there are always two ways of doing things, whether it is math or war. Some people may not agree, but they must have just never put their mind to anything. Those people must be really stubborn or really just bleak. Some people do not notice that there are better ways or just other ways of going about their problems and decide that they want to only listen to themselves. Those people usually do not make it far in life just take Franz Reichelt for example.…

Individuals may choose their own paths in life, but cannot create them. In Mordecai Richler’s novel The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, the inherent and systematic adversity which those not privileged enough to be born at the top of social ladder in society must face to achieve success becomes clear. Duddy Kravitz, the central character in the story is determined to break out of a cycle of poverty and become a “somebody” to the world, but in doing so must sacrifice all morals and ethics along the way. Richler suggests that the capacity for one in Canada during the 1950’s to achieve success is defined not by a person’s talent or potential, but rather social standing and ethnicity. In reality, the “Canadian dream” message that Canadians love…

I believe there is meaning behind the quote, “A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say” by Italo Calvino. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams in my opinion is what Italo Calvino defines as classic. This book has taught me many great life lessons that apply to my everyday life. To anyone who has skimmed through the book Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, it appears to be just a zany science-fiction novel about the misadventures of Arthur Dent.…

In my illustration, I drew the London Clock Tower which is the symbol of England and next to it the England Royal Guard which symbolizes the protection of England, and in a distance from the Clock tower and the Guard, there is Dracula creeping in closer with a female and male vampire following him showing that any being can be infected by evilness and become evil. My drawing illustrates the quote that I chose in the sense that Dracula is ambitious about spreading his blood of evil all over England and anyone infected would then become such evil. And from what I understand, I can most relate the quote to Imperial Gothic, one of the major ideas that we’ve discussed in class. Imperial Gothic most commonly refers to 19th century fiction that is…
