Quiznos Quiznos is a sandwich shop that originated in Denver, Colorado and specializes in toasted submarine sandwiches. It is the second largest submarine sandwich shop chain in North America. There are over 2100 shops in the United States today. Quiznos mission is “To be a leader in the sandwich segment by serving the best sandwich in the marketplace: one successful store and one “wowed” customer at a time.” The founder of Quiznos, Jim Lambatos, opened the first store in the spring of 1981 with partner Todd Disner. They modeled the business to be a traditional Italian-style sandwich shop that makes all sandwiches fresh. They offer unique recipes of fresh specialty breads, soups and salads. Not only focusing on toasting each sub, Quiznos also focuses on having the utmost quality of ingredients that are guaranteed fresh, every day.

They sold the company in January 1991 to Rick Schaden, who owned and operated three stores with his father Richard Schaden. The Schaden’s started with 18 locations with plans to grow. By the end of 1999 the Company Brand had 634 franchises opened and plans to open more stores. They grew to over 5000 stores, but Quiznos biggest downfall was the embracement of the growing culture which caused them to rapidly open a number of franchises. They were unable to maintain all the stores that opened, so they decided to file chapter eleven bankruptcy on March 14, 2014.
