Rolfe Reflection Model In Nursing

Rolfe reflection model is three questions. What? So what? And now what? The first question is ‘What?’ the response is examples such as what happened? who was there? what were you trying to achieve? Was it a good or bad experience, what was feedback from others?
The second question is So what? This is reflecting on how you felt, what should/could have been done better, how other people were feeling.

The third question is so what? This is reflecting on what you will do to make it better next time or avoid it from happening again, what are the consequences and reflect on how you can improve.

Gibbs is a reflective cycle comprising of 5 questions a description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and an action plan.

This is a benefit as it broadens your knowledge and experiences to work in a wide range of areas of nursing. For example, to work in paediatrics you are required to gain a certificate in paediatric nursing this is an extra year of study. (Acn.edu.au, 2017)

Informal learning- is a casual way of learning it doesn’t have a goal, it is self-directed.
Examples of informal learning are reading articles and watching videos.
Formal learning- has a goal, for example you are learning to gain a qualification or certificate. Benefits from informal and formal learning gains knowledge and further employment opportunities.

3. Describe types of work methods and practices which can improve performance in your nursing job role
To improve performance in nursing It is important to reflect. reflecting on things such as, what you can improve on, what you aren’t doing so well, filling in any gaps of learning required and setting goals. Also obtain mentoring from other colleagues as everyone gains different experiences and new skills. It also gives you the opportunity to receive feedback/tips. This helps you gain knowledge on what you need to improve on and gives an opportunity to correct it before any errors are
