- “The IT industry is all about innovation. Companies need to either innovative, make their products better or they die. Apple is a good example in the industry because they constantly create new products and better products. The moment they stop doing that they die. They were the first to come out with the tools like the iPhone. People are look at apple for the new best thing. That’s what you want”

IBM is the single largest company that spends the most in development in the industry as a whole. We developed Watsons. You might have seen the video with him on Jeopardy. He uses cognitive computing to look at databases to find the most probable answer. We are beginning to use him in health care. Where Watson would look at symptoms and recommend a diagnoses”
3. For students interested pursuing in a career path in the IT industry, such as myself, what advice would you give to them? (Skills, experiences, courses of action, Etc.)
- “The most obvious advice would be to enter into a course of study that is relevant. If you want to be in IT you should study computer programing and coding. But beyond that I would say go engage with companies like Apple and IBM. Go take internships from them or do what you’re kind of doing now by learning from them. IBM has a summit program where we give 6 months of intense training on sales. IBM also has a similar program on coding. Also, go and study IT companies around the world. IT makes everything global and one world. This will open your eyes to the global economy.”
4. Through research I found that building strong long lasting B2B relationships are an important aspect of the IT industry. What are some of the best practices you or IBM use to build these relationships? How important is sales management for the success of …show more content…
Cognitive computing is the ability to learn. It uses a bunch of databases to find an answer. Watson would look through databases to find answers as well. Going back to the Jeopardy example he picked the best answer through probability. After that, he would learn based off of the correct answer. In health care, Watson would look at the patient and recommend which cancer they had. Doctors would then tell Watson if the diagnosis and the treatment given were right or wrong.”
- “Artificial intelligence is similar to Cognitive computing but you give them the capability to make a decision. You aren’t checking on the decisions, the robot is making them itself. That’s why people are concerned about AI. Similar to the movie Space Odyssey where the rocket kill off the astronauts one by one. It’s been decided that only allow humans should be allowed to make decisions. If you’re interested in this, there is a sixty minute episode on Watson.”
- “Mobile is obvious. It’s a growing industry that’s all around us. For example, My 6 kids can be 10 feet from each other and still text each other to talk. Our job is to figure out “How do I help companies develop mobile apps?” Mobility is super important to consumers today. We need to develop apps the millennial will
