3 Questions About My Writing Anastasia Vakoulich

One strength in my writing is that I can write a piece without spelling mistakes. I always liked spelling as a subject which helped me excel at it even more when writing. Winning 4 spelling bees in a row was the result of loving the subject. When I wrote my both of my writing pieces, I did not have to make any edits that regarded spelling. I know that this is definitely a strength in my writing.

One weakness in my writing is that I can fall in love with a word and I will use it many times in at least 2 sentences. When I make a mistake like that, my sentences sound choppy and very hard to read. They sound confusing and monotonous. For example, I wrote the word ‘I’ 4 times in my argumentative essays introduction. Watching out for this mistake would definitely benefit my writing because it would make my sentences flow better rather than them sounding choppy.

This could help me improve missing small transition words and important grammatical errors. By reading my piece out loud, I could hear if the sentences sound awkward or if I say a word to many times in the piece. As an example, I had an awkward sentence in my argumentative essay. If I read it out loud, I would have heard my poorly built sentence. Using these two strategies, I could greatly improve my

There are good writers and there are good writers who work hard to become better. Mrs. Fiske, my English teacher junior and senior year of high school always told me that I was one of the best writers in my class but I could always be better. Spelling has always been one of my strong suits and I always get bothered when people can’t spell simple words. I’m pretty good at writing essays but I do not enjoy writing them at all.…

Have You Developed a System of Writing That Works Most of The Time I really have not looked up different styles of writing let alone realized there was so many different types of it. My method is not necessarily a method per se, I have always for the longest time just wrote down as if I was speaking to someone. That to me was where my biggest praise came from, that I was able to write with such voice and was able to emulate my presence through the pages. When writing for an essay there is a period where I read and reread the question to gather all the information that is needed. Once the question is fully understood, I try to explain myself in full detail.…

I spend so much time worrying about the transitions within my body paragraphs that I tend to forget about the unnecessary, additional, or redundant phrases. For example, in Writing Project 1, I said in the third body paragraph: “The surrounding design around the article is unskillful.” The “surrounding” and “around” words used in the same sentence created a redundancy that didn’t flow as smoothly as it could have with just one of these words. Word choice is another weakness that is seen in my essays, since I do not use strong vocabulary words and sometimes write sentences with vague pronouns rather than specifying with the subject that I address in the body paragraph sentences. A smaller weakness that I have with writing essays is the minor error of not formatting citations correctly in MLA, but instead having part of the source in APA.…

In my story, I thought that the major strength was my intro. I really liked how it kept the reader hooked and were wondering what happened and how she got in the situation she was in. I also thought that is was cool that the story started with outcome of the end of the world and how she was all alone and ended with it. After my first draft I was given feedback to revise on the sensory details with certain things that happened to her so the reader could really feel how she felt.…

    English 1302 Reflection

I believe that sometimes my mistakes in grammar stay on my papers because while I am revising and editing my paper I have trouble reading the actual words on the paper and instead read the things that my mind says it should read. For example, one of my greatest mistakes is forgetting to write some commas when the writing should have it. The problem is that in my mind I read it as if the comma is there while it is truly not, I believe that this problem extends in part out of the fact that I read a lot of books where the grammar is not the best and I always try to ignore it while I am reading. Additionally, I also need to work on eliminating my run on sentences from my writing.…

Describe Yourself As A Writer I’ve come to realize that after years of writing papers, I’m actually a better writer than I give myself credit for. I’ve noticed over time that I’ve advanced in how I structure my paragraphs, however, not so much with my sentences. It’s like making a cake look delicious at first glance with frosting and decorations, but then you take a bite and there 's way too much sugar or it 's overcooked in the inside. My strength in writing includes: using better words to describe what I’m writing about, spelling complex words, creativity, and passion.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…
