Queen Liliuokalani In Hawaii

About Her

Queen Liliuokalani was a strong and good-hearted queen. She is known for being the last and first queen of Hawaii, writing “Aloha, Oe” a famous song known from hawaii, and opening up orphanages after her reign.

She didn’t become in charge until she was 43 years old, after her brother King Kalakaua left to go travel. She was temporarily in charge at first. After her brother died on January 30th, 1891 then she started her reign.

Queen Liliuokalani was adopted when she was a baby because there is a tradition in Hawaii called “Hanai”. “Hanai” is when a close family friend or relative adopts the child to make the bond stronger between families. Her biological parents were Ceaser Kapa’akea and Anale’a Keohokalole which were ruled
