As you grow older it becomes apparently abundant in your social clique, as well as the ones that you observe, that there is one central member that controls the group. This is often times referred to as the queen bee. The queen bee is generally the sole leader over everyone in their particular social group, and their influence may reach beyond their exclusive pack. Often times today’s society mentality fosters an “us against them” viewpoint. In other words, if you come into contact with the queen bee and you do not make it clear that you support her, then by default you are against her. This one person has the authority to make or break you in their world. The queen bee is normally accustomed to being spoiled; this usually begins in their home life with parents who have good intentions, but, in the end, give their children a distorted outlook on how and when they deserve things. This can also lead to the queen bee having no recognition for anyone’s feeling besides her own. Positive peer pressure is the act of influencing your peers and friends to make better decisions and choices. If the queen bee is someone who uses her power for a positive influence, the queen bee role can absolutely be a good thing. For instance, if the queen bee is involved in a good organization at school and she tries to get those around her involved as well, she has made a positive impact on those around her and probably even the community. Most of the time, the Queen Bee is just using her authority to give herself a greater repetition.
