The queen angelfish (Holacanthus Ciliaris) have a black and blue speckled ring on the top of their head that looks like a crown, which is how they got their name. The queen angelfish are one of the most beautiful and colorful reef fish.
Description
The queen angelfish has a thin body, a rounded head, and a beak-like mouth. They have two, long, fins that drape behind them, two fins under their bodies, one fin on either side of their bodies, and one dorsal fin on the top of their bodies. All of their fins are yellow and their faces are yellow with some thick, blue stokes, and their bodies are blue with tiny yellow dots on them. They sometimes have light purple and orange highlights on their body,too. They can live as far north as Bermuda and as far south as Brazil, and can be found from the shores to depths up to 230 feet. They roam in the Western Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and Florida. They are either found alone or often in pairs.
Prey/Predator
The predators of the queen angelfish are people. People capture queen angelfish and sell them to aquariums. The queen angelfish are omnivores, so they eat plants and meat.
