Quarter Horse Research Paper

The PMG animal that I picked is the Quarter Horse. I picked this animal because I grew up with horses and have been riding since I was 4, I also own a quarter horse of my own. My code of care is going to focus on the necessities and care of the quarter horse. It also focuses on the proper handling and transportation for the quarter horse. To maintain the Quarter Horses health it is helpful to know the correct amount of feed and water for them to accumulate. Quarter Horses are known for maintaining weight on a fairly low amount of feed. Quarter Horses also find it very easily to become overweight if they eat too much. Also pasture based horses tend to have less disease. Pasteurised horses must have access to water and shelter from storm and weather at all times. People often place horses in a dry lot due to keeping horses from getting ill by eating too much of wet grass. Housing is very important for a horse's health along with medications. When giving a horse medications you should keep continuous contact with the horse at all times. Horses get a vet check once a year, along with checking for signs of illness often. Regular vaccinations such as tetanus are given, along with parasite control such as wormers. Flyspray is used to keep bugs away from the horse. For older horses it is necessary to have dental care done such as floating which dulls out the sharp teeth from uneven wearing. Grooming-coat, hoof care is well suited for all horses. Sometimes even shoes are expected for healthy hoof care. Along with healthcare expectations there is also handling expectations. Horses are naturally claustrophobic animals as well as being afraid of sudden. This makes precautions so that the handler and the horse it self stays safe more intense since horses can get spooked so
