Additionally, I desire to address the importance of self-care and hope to investigate why our generation is experiencing an awakening and awareness towards the benefits of alternative healing practices, such as meditation, relaxation and good nutrition. I will address the problem with our “pill popping” culture and why our constant use of medication for momentary relief is over used and may cause more damage than curing in the long run. I will introduce Mindell Arnold who is the author of a fascinating book called The Quantum Mind and Healing, which addresses how to listen and respond to our body’s symptoms before turning to chemical treatments, such as pills and antibiotics. From Mindell, I hope to learn how to use awareness to transform the experience of body symptoms and illness into healing and wholeness. Finally, I plan to compare patient-doctor relationships in traditional Western medicine verses alternative medicine, especially addressing the importance of a comfortable, intimate connection and communication between a doctor and his/her
