Quality Of Behavior In The Franklin's Tale '

The Franklin's Tale is full of characters that represent a high quality of behavior. The character that I believe represents the highest quality of behavior is Aurelius. Aurelius is a squire and one of the most handsome men alive. He has been in love with Dorigen for two years. Dorigen is the wife of the knight Arveragus. Aurelius believes that he can be as noble as knight so that Dorigen will love him back. Throughout the story Aurelius tries to show Dorigen he is noble like a knight. Aurelius does many things to prove that he is noble and represents the highest quality of behavior out of all other characters. One of the times that Aurelius shows that he represents the highest quality of behavior is when he confesses his love to Dorigen at the dance. The character that is very similar to Aurelius is Arveragus. Arveragus is similar to Aurelius in the way that they are both noble people. Arveragus shows the he is noble because he is a knight. Knights are known to be noble people who fight for their kingdom. Arveragus left Dorigen so that he could go fight in Brittany. Arveragus isn’t just noble because he is a knight, he shows that he is noble through his actions. When Arveragus says“his promise as a knight that he would never darken her delight”(409) he is showing a very noble act because many men at the time wouldn’t let their wives have so much freedom. Aurelis shows that he is noble when he frees Dorigen of her promise to Aurelius. Aurelius knows that Dorigen really loves Arveragus and he just wants he to be happy. Another way that Aurelius is noble is when he gets rid of the rocks in the port because Dorigen tells him to. Aurelius does this to make not only for himself but he does it to make Dorigen happy.
