The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) strategies address the six competencies includes “quality improvement, evidenced-based practice, informatics, patient-centered care, and teamwork and collaboration” (Dolansky & Moore, 2013, p. 2). Systems thinking relates to an individual’s environment to his or her behavior (Dolansky & Moore, 2013). Teaching systems thinking to students is advantageous to their success in the program and clinical practice. Critical thinking skills and knowledge are connected to system thinking.
