Research objectives
The objective is to examine how quality of sleep impacts quality of life among undergraduate students at the University of Oklahoma. The aim of the study is to provide a better understanding between sleep quality and quality of life. Author Wong found that sleep quality has direct and indirect effects on college students ' intellectual functioning, medical and cognitive health (2013). Our study aims to provide insight on the ways in which sleep quality influences quality of life of undergraduate students at OU.
Sample Frame, Population

Once this initial data is collected and processed, a follow up will be conducted with a sample of the initial University of Oklahoma undergraduate responders to collect more detailed qualitative data using a modified PSQI (see Appendix C) to collect information daily via an online survey form in order to establish a clearer picture of the mediating and/or moderating factors that influence the impact of sleep quality on quality of life. Nineteen of the questions are self-rated measures of the seven specific components of subjective sleep quality, sleep duration, sleep latency, sleep disturbances, habitual sleep efficiency, use of sleeping medication, and daytime dysfunction. These 7 component scores are summed to one global score ranging from 0-21, with higher scores representing lower sleep quality. A global score of 5 or higher is considered to represent poor versus good quality sleep. The remaining 5 questions are used to collect clinical information from a roommate or bed partner, if applicable (Buysse, Reynolds, Monk, Berman, & Kupfer, 1989). The PSQI has been translated into 56 languages and is one of the most widely used and most validated instruments for measuring subjective sleep quality and disturbances over the last one month period (Mariman, et al., 2012).
