Having said that project manager lies under a category who achieves greatness with education, experience, skills and of course with talents gained or born with. That means project managers are well trained people who possess series of key qualities important for management discipline. I was a member of schools rugby team, chairmen of 12th Colombo scout troop in 2004 and leader of the safety unit Carey collage Colombo in 2004 (Traffic warden). Looking at various type of extracurricular activities I was able to participate at the time of my studies without effecting my academics do reflect many qualities person need to achieve as a project manager. I believe that my leadership, multitasking and team work qualities were established because of my passion towards extracurricular activities at the time of school life. Even though I have had these opportunities and passion towards extracurricular activities my interest towards logics, physics, chemistry and mathematics didn’t fade away. As a result of that I decided become a computer engineer and I started next step of my life in Bangalore …show more content…
After successfully completing my first project for the company in Manila playing roles of software engineer and business analyst did change my carrier. My customer relationship (Social), team management and work life progress gave me an opportunity to lead my first project without having the title of project manager. There were many ups and downs moving from engineering discipline to management. I started to master each and every skill that project manager should hold and it finally paid off with my promotion to become a project manager with 3 sites and 3 project teams with multiple projects in Manila Philippines. With progress of carrier ladder then my focus was to analyze my lacking areas which is too much emotionally invested in project, trust issues, planning, delegation, interviews and academic qualifications in project management discipline. Outcome of my own analysis showed me that personal skills can be gained while working but I would need to acquire academic qualification in management discipline if I desire to climb up the carrier ladder even faster and smarter. Consequently I decided to choose one year an international post graduate degree program which can provide me the academic qualification and carrier edge I needed in this stage of my life. So far Northumbria post graduate Business information systems management
